GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE MASTER’S TRAINING PROGRAM IN TOURISM AND TRAVEL SERVICES MANAGEMENT

The Master’s training program in Tourism and Travel Services Management, program code 8810103, of Van Hien University is developed with the aim of training highly qualified human resources to meet the development requirements of the tourism industry in the context of international integration, digital transformation, and sustainable development. The program is delivered in the full-time mode over a period of 02 years, with two orientations: research and application, thereby providing flexibility and alignment with learners’ career orientations, competencies, and professional development needs.

Under the research orientation, the program places emphasis on developing scientific thinking, critical thinking, and in-depth research capacity in the fields of tourism, travel, and destination management. Learners are equipped with the capacity to identify problems, develop theoretical frameworks, design and conduct research, collect and analyse data, utilise specialised literature, and present and publish research findings. Through this, learners are able to propose management recommendations, policies, and tourism development solutions based on scientific evidence. This training orientation provides a foundation for learners to engage in research, teaching, professional consultancy, or continue their education at the doctoral level.

Under the application orientation, the program focuses on enhancing the ability to apply advanced knowledge and management tools to address practical issues at enterprises, destinations, and tourism management agencies. Learners develop competencies in situation analysis, strategic planning, the organisation and management of tourism and travel activities, performance evaluation, and the proposal of innovative solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of management in real-world professional environments.

With a structure combining advanced knowledge, scientific research, and professional practice, the program aims to train managers, experts, lecturers, and researchers with professional competence, innovative and creative thinking, professional ethics, and the ability to adapt to changes in the tourism industry. The simultaneous implementation of the two training orientations contributes to meeting the diverse needs of learners and the labour market, while

strengthening the linkage among training - research - practice - sustainable development, thereby contributing to improving the quality of human resources and the competitiveness of Viet Nam’s tourism industry.
